Product authentication

How does NFC product authentication work?

Each product gets an encrypted NFC tag with its own identity and three levels of security, part of BirdHaus TruLock Technology™. When a customer taps it with a phone, a verify page checks the tag against the brand's records and shows whether the product is genuine. BirdHaus has issued 13,613,521 NFC tags and processed 9,162,242 taps this way.

Can NFC authentication tags be copied or cloned?

A plain NFC sticker with a fixed link can be copied. BirdHaus tags are different: every tag is encrypted, carries three levels of security, and every tap is checked on the server. The system watches for suspicious tap patterns, and cloned tags are caught and shut off automatically, so a copy stops verifying.

Is NFC or QR code better for anti-counterfeiting?

NFC is stronger: a BirdHaus tag is encrypted and has to be physically there to be read, while a printed QR code can be photographed and reprinted. QR and scratch-off codes cost less and work with any camera phone. Many BirdHaus clients combine both: NFC on premium products and serialized label codes on high-volume packaging.

Do customers need an app to verify a product?

No. Most phones read NFC tags natively, and the tap opens a verify page in the browser. Brands that want more can add a branded scan app with rewards, promotions and loyalty points. BirdHaus builds both the browser verify page and the optional iOS and Android apps.

What does a customer see when they tap a tag?

A page in the brand’s look opens in the phone’s browser and answers in a moment: Authentic, or Not verified. The brand can add product details, drop information, care instructions or a reward. Each tap is recorded, so the brand also learns where and when its products are being checked.

What is a tamper-evident NFC tag?

A tamper-evident NFC tag is built so that opening the package or removing the label breaks the tag or changes what it reports. A customer who taps it can see whether the seal was broken. BirdHaus offers tamper-evident tags on request for packaging, closures and labels.

How do cannabis and vape brands fight counterfeit products?

Counterfeiters copy popular cannabis and vape packaging because empty boxes are easy to buy. Brands fight back with a unique code on every unit, either an encrypted NFC tag or a serialized scratch-off label, plus a verify page customers check before using the product. BirdHaus runs these programs for cannabis, hemp and vape brands.

How many products has BirdHaus authenticated?

The BirdHaus authentication platform, Scanacart, has issued 13,613,521 NFC tags. Consumers have tapped those tags 9,162,242 times and run 2,939,248 label-code checks. 10,328,300 verification checks carry a location, spread across 46 countries. The network map on bybirdhaus.com shows where those checks happened.

What does a product scan tell a brand?

Each scan records the product, the time and the approximate location. Brands use that to see where products sell, notice grey-market diversion, catch cloned tags, which are shut off automatically, and reach customers with rewards. BirdHaus shows this on a map and in a brand portal.

Apparel and merch

Does BirdHaus manufacture apparel for new brands?

Yes. BirdHaus makes tees, hoodies, caps, totes and private label apparel for new and established brands. The team designs the pieces and runs full production through our manufacturing partners: cut-and-sew, blanks, embroidery, print, labels, packaging, anything the brand needs. NFC authentication can be added to garments for limited drops and resale protection.

How do I start a clothing brand?

Start with a name, a logo and a small first collection of two to four pieces. Order samples, test fit and print quality, then produce a first run sized to what you can sell. BirdHaus covers each step from one team: brand design, samples, production, packaging and the website you sell from.

What is private label apparel?

Private label apparel is clothing made by a manufacturer and sold under your brand, with your own neck labels, hang tags and packaging. It lets a brand launch without owning a factory. BirdHaus produces private label tees, hoodies and caps, and can add NFC tags so each piece is verifiable.

Can you add NFC authentication to clothing and merch?

Yes. An NFC tag can be sewn into a label, placed in a hang tag or added to packaging. Tapping it confirms the item is genuine and can show drop details, care instructions or rewards. BirdHaus manufactures the garment and installs the tag in the same order, so there is no second vendor.

Packaging and labels

What are anti-counterfeit labels?

Anti-counterfeit labels carry a feature that is hard to copy and easy to check: a unique scratch-off code, a serialized QR code, a tamper-evident seal or an encrypted NFC tag. The customer checks the code on a verify page. BirdHaus label codes have been checked 2,939,248 times by consumers.

How do scratch-off authentication codes work?

Each label has a unique code hidden under a scratch-off layer. The customer scratches it, enters or scans the code, and the verify page checks it against the brand’s records. Every check is logged for the brand. BirdHaus designs and prints these labels as part of the packaging.

Can authentication be built into my existing packaging?

Usually yes. A secure label, a tamper-evident seal or an NFC inlay can be added to most boxes, bags, jars and closures without redesigning the whole package. When BirdHaus designs the packaging from the start, the code is placed where customers will find it and use it.

Websites, apps and analytics

Does BirdHaus build websites and apps for brands?

Yes. BirdHaus designs and builds brand websites, iOS and Android apps, and brand portals. Apps can include product verification, rewards, promotions and loyalty programs tied to each scan. Because BirdHaus also runs the authentication platform, scan data flows straight into the brand's site, app and dashboard.

What is a brand portal with scan analytics?

A brand portal is a private dashboard showing every product check: when, where and how often each item was scanned, plus any cloned tags that were caught and shut off. BirdHaus portals draw on a network with 10,328,300 located verification checks, so brands can see which cities and countries their products reach.

Working with BirdHaus

What does BirdHaus do?

BirdHaus is a Southern California company that builds brands from one team. It designs logos and packaging, makes apparel and merch through its manufacturing partners, and adds NFC product authentication with TruLock Technology™ so customers can verify a product is real with a phone tap. BirdHaus also builds websites, mobile apps and brand portals that show where and when products are scanned.

Can one company design, manufacture and authenticate my product?

Yes. BirdHaus handles brand design, apparel and merch production, packaging and labels, and NFC or label-code authentication in one project. Because the same team makes the packaging and the authentication, the tag or code is built into the design instead of added afterward, and every scan feeds one analytics portal for the brand.

Who does BirdHaus work with?

BirdHaus works with cannabis, hemp and vape brands, streetwear labels and consumer-goods companies, from first-time founders to brands shipping large runs. Its authentication platform has issued 13,613,521 NFC tags and recorded 9,162,242 NFC taps across 46 countries, so it is built for both small launches and large runs.

Where is BirdHaus located?

BirdHaus is based in Southern California, in the Orange County area, and works with brands across the United States and internationally. Its authentication network has recorded product checks in 46 countries. Design, production management and authentication are handled by one team rather than spread across separate vendors.

What is the relationship between BirdHaus and Scanacart?

Scanacart is the product authentication platform behind BirdHaus. It issues the NFC tags and label codes, runs the verify pages and powers the brand analytics portal. BirdHaus is the brand-building company that designs, manufactures and packages the product and sets up authentication through Scanacart.

What should I send to get a quote?

Send what you want to make or protect, rough quantities, your timeline and any artwork or reference images. For authentication, include the product type and how many units ship per month. BirdHaus replies with options for apparel, packaging, NFC tags or label codes, and a quote.

How much do NFC authentication tags cost?

Cost depends on the chip, the label format and volume. Encrypted TruLock tags cost more than basic NFC stickers, and price per tag drops as order size grows. BirdHaus quotes tags together with the verify page, portal and any packaging, so the total per unit is clear before production.

Is product authentication worth it for a small brand?

It is worth it once counterfeits or empty-box resellers appear, or when you want direct contact with customers. A verify scan also opens the door to rewards and repeat sales. BirdHaus offers label codes for lower-cost runs and NFC tags for premium products, so smaller brands can start with either.
